School assignments and why everyone hates them

From a very young age, students have always hated homework which translates into school work that they had to carry home. Writing that good assignment: What you need

The process of preparing a good assignment can be divided into several stages namely:

  •  The preparation stage
  •  The writing stage
  •  Post writing stage

The preparation stage.

This stage is the time between you receiving the topic and when you begin writing. Based on the form of essay you are writing, it’s volume and the work involved, you can be given anything from a couple of weeks to a year to complete the assignment. The moment you receive the topic and you know what is required of you, the preparation stage has begun. There are a few things you need to do in this period.

  1.  Set up a realistic timeline between that moment and when you hope to complete the assignment. You literally have to make a calendar if you want to get ahead. You would have to include fine for research, time for planning and time for writing keeping it as realistic as humanly possible. This sets the ball rolling. You need to stick to the timeline created if you have any hopes of finishing your writing in good time.

  4.  It should not be more than a tenth of the entire word count of the essay you are writing. It should however reflect the length of the writing. The longer the essay, the longer the introduction.

Once you have written your introduction, gather several ideas based on your notes and begin writing your first draft.

Base on the notes you have gathered, if you have a tutor or a supervisor, you might want to include them at this point. The body flows into several paragraphs, each not isolated. You might want to plan your writing and plan how each idea flows into another. The ideas should not be isolated. Use relevant language, do not over embellish, yet do not write with an absence of creative flair. At this point, your writing should suit the type of essay you have been asked to produce. Cite references according to the correct form and order outlined by the writing guideline you have been asked to follow.

Read the draft and keep improving on it with help from your tutor and any other well meaning friend until you have come up with the final draft. Conclude the writing with a summary of all your points. Do not add any new points in the conclusion. Finish writing your work in good time before the deadline so you can have enough time to go over the work.

Post writing stage

Get feedback from well meaning people, revise your work several times to weed out any mistakes and wrong expressions that you might have added. Take care to proofread your work and get rid of any grammatical errors. Once you are satisfied with the assignment, send it in in good time before the deadline is up.
